Ian Roberts was born and grew up in Bristol, England. Education took place at Hartcliffe School then after moving house to Cadbury Camp Lane near Portishead Ian went to Gordano School. A future celebrity in the same year at school as Ian was Geoff Barrow now band member and song writer for the world famous platinum selling band `Portishead'. A natural athelete, Ian represented his school at football & rugby & also played in central midfield for Portishead under 16's football team. However Ian would soon turn his athletic prowess to another sport, boxing.
Inspired by watching the likes of `Sugar' Ray Leonard on television Ian entered the world of amateur boxing, representing Bristol's Broad Plain Amateur Boxing Club and also the West of England. Bristol's amateur boxing scene was then buzzing with future world champions Adrian Stone and Glenn Catley on the scene. Ian's good friend and future W.B.C. World Super-Middeweight champion Glenn Catley even made his amateur debut on the same show as Ian, both recording stoppage wins. However Ian's interest in boxing eventually waned and although yet to fulfill his massive potential, Ian sought a new challenge.
It was at this point, partly on the recommendation of friends Ian began to pursue a career in fashion modeling. Ian's career got off to a good start when he won a modeling competition from hundreds of entrants in his home town of Bristol run by Julie Dammers Model Agency. Initially paid work seemed very hard to come by, it seemed a vicious circle of needing work in your portfolio to get work. Soon the breakthrough came and after the first job it was not long before the jobs started to roll in. This included prestigeous work for companies such as Coca-Cola, Harley Davidson, John Anthony, Sky TV, Next and Alexandra Clare Parfum to name but a few. As Ian's portfolio grew he was quickly signed up by more agencies, first in Birmingham and Manchester and then Needhams Model Agency in London run by former Playboy covergirl Carol Needham and then even agencies abroad first Salvador Models of Barcelona. Then later agencies in France and New York. On his many modeling assignments Ian has worked alongside such models as his friend Sophie Anderton, Emma Griffith, Chrissy Molnar presenter of Playboy TV's `Night Calls' and Tiffani Bannister star of Live TV's twice daily show `Tiffani's Big City Tips'.
Alongside his modeling Ian has had a number of different part-time jobs as most models do. This included being a trained licensed croupier moving onto bar work, then nightclub security work. During this time Ian became head of security at Bristol's famous Lakota club.
As well as his modelling and part-time jobs Ian has a number of busness interests and is a director and shareholder of the following highly
successful companies:-
NIS Employment Services Ltd
NIS Commercial Services Ltd
Colmenar Ltd
Nursing Solutions Ltd
Ian is responsible for all I.T. matters regarding these companies and has attained his MCSA, MCSE and MCDBA as well as having general director duties and input on business direction. Recently Ian's work with Nursing Solutions was rewarded when he won an `Young Entrepreneur of the Year' award. Much of Ian's leisure time naturally revolves around sport which aids keeping him in shape for modeling. Ian trains at Spanorium Farm, Tex Woodwards professional boxing gym and is also an active member of Bristol's David Lloyds club. For fun Ian can often be seen socialising in the bars and clubs in Bristol, especially those on Whiteladies road near his home in Sneyd
Park, where he lives with his girlfriend Beth George. Boxing is still very close to Ian's heart and he has gone to see the likes of Lennox Lewis, Nigel Benn, Chris Eubank and Joe Calzaghe live as well as supporting Bristol's local boxers. Ian also loves to travel and has recently visited Miami & New York.
