Ian Roberts was born and grew up in Bristol, England. Ian attended Bridge Farm infant and junior school, then Hartcliffe School. Before a house move took him near to Portishead where he attended Gordano School. A natural athlete, Ian represented his school at football, rugby & also played in central midfield for Portishead under 16's football team. However Ian would soon turn his athletic prowess to another sport, boxing.
Inspired by watching the likes of 'Sugar' Ray Leonard on television Ian entered the world of amateur boxing, representing Bristol's Broad Plain Amateur Boxing Club and also the West of England. Bristol's amateur boxing scene was then buzzing with future world champions Adrian Stone and Glenn Catley on the scene. Future W.B.C. World Super-Middeweight champion Glenn Catley even made his amateur debut on the same show as Ian, both recording stoppage wins at the Empire ABC club show.
Following his A'levels, partly on the recommendation of friends Ian began to pursue a career in fashion modeling. Ian's career got off to a good start when he won a model search competition in his home town of Bristol. Ian's modelling work included prestigious work for companies such as Coca-Cola, Mulberry Clothing, 20th Century Fox, Harley Davidson, John Anthony, Sky TV, Next, Alexandra Clare Parfum, The Sun and Third Planet Poster Company, which included a version of the famous Athena man and baby poster called L'Enfant, which sold over two million copies on four continents. As Ian's portfolio grew he was quickly signed up by more agencies, first in Birmingham, Manchester and a top Agency in London and then agencies abroad first Salvador Models of Barcelona. Then later agencies in Paris and New York. As well as photographic work, there was also film and television work including a number of TV commercials and an appearance on the iconic television show 'Hitman and Her'. On his many modeling assignments Ian has worked alongside such models as Sophie Anderton and Emma Willis.
Alongside his modelling Ian has had a number of different part-time jobs. This included being a trained licensed croupier which he had to drop as he required more flexibility with shifts during the day to accommodate his modeling work. So he switched to bar work mostly in nightclubs as that kept his days free for his main career. From a chance meeting with an old boxing buddy he was offered the chance to work security at Bristol famous Lakota nightclub. During the 90's Lakota was one of the most famous dance clubs in the country and often played host to such big name DJ's as Judge Jules, Jeremy Healy, Carl Cox, Paul Oakenfold and many others.
Ian Roberts is now working as an successful IT/Defence Contractor. One of his contracts was for Nato/ISAF as part of Operation Enduring Freedom at the height of the war in Afghanistan. Travelling in and around Kabul Ian carried a Smith & Wesson Enhanced Sigma Series 9mm handgun for personal protection. In addition Ian is a successful businessman, being a director and shareholder of Nursing Solutions Ltd . The largest independent nursing agency in the South West. He also owns investment property both here and on the Algarve in Portugal. Ian still does the odd modelling job. As recently as November 2022 Ian starred in a music video for platinum selling, multi award winning music producer and rapper Alonestar.
